Are you sweet enough?

I talk about sugar and it's effects as much as possible, because there are so many detrimental things that we, as a society are doing to ourselves that is due to the ingestion of sugar. Glucose is a natural occurring substance that is needed to sustain life. A sudden drop in glucose in a person, can cause weakness, fainting, leading to coma and possibly death.
Glucose, or sugar is a requirement of our bodies and is used for energy, however, when it's not used, it's stored, in our fatty tissues. Glucose or sugars, are ingested through carbohydrates in our diet, and the body's process changes to energy. When it's not used, it's stored.
What I want to talk about is ADDED sugar. Most every food and drink, has added sugar, as we started taking the fat out of food years ago, and sugar was replaced. This is now becoming an issue with our obesity rates.
As I look around and see people everywhere i go, I see them carrying HUGE cups of soda, and drinks. QT 32 oz soda, the 7-11 Big Gulp, these are 32 oz of added sugar drinks. Would you just eat all those sugar cubes? Probably not.. but you will drink them, which puts them in your body all at once.
So, I am at the office, in line at the cafe, to grab a coffee, busy day. The girl in front of me, squirts 5 shots of the French vanilla creamer, wow, I think, that's pretty sweet. But what shocked me is that she added another 5 packets of sugar to the coffee. Unbelievable. Yes, everyone, I kept my big mouth shut, and didn't say anything...Practicing my live and let live....
What bothered me the most recently, I was at the grocery store, and there was a mom and her little boy, he was about 18 mos, old, and he was sitting in the chair, very nicely. Most little guys are not wanting to sit still that long. What I determined, is that he was sitting there, because he was being "bribed" with STARBURST!! Now, Candy is  great treat, but he had at least 3, and he is not even 2 yrs old? Does he even have enough teeth to chew them? Mentally, I prepped to save him when he choked. Lucky!!
Fast forward a couple hours, went to see Teagan's basketball game, outside, there was  a dad with his little boy, and they were just sitting outside, but the little guy, was about 2, maybe a bit older, didn't talk much yet, and he was drinking a 20 oz Big Red. Another SUGAR loaded soda. 20 oz is too much in one sitting for a grown up, what is it for a 2 yr old? 5 times the amount?
We are giving our kids so much added sugar, and it is going to lead to problems, it's been associated with so many different issues. I will be one to tell you, when my kids drink soda, within a 20 min period, they have a change in their in behavior. They tend to argue with each other more. I believe it's the sugar high making them irritable.
So, is it ignorance? People don't know what's in the drinks they suck down? Or is it that they are truly addicted to it. which makes it a necessity?
Please share this with anyone you know. Thanks and hugs to all.
